Electricity generation

In 2020, over one third of the energy in Romania was generated by thermal power plants and around ** percent by nuclear electric power plants. The amount of electricity generated in Romania did not have a consistent evolution over the last 30 years. As a result, it peaked in 1989 at **** terawatts per hour and decreased to **** terawatts per hour by 2019.

Electricity prices for households

An increase was also registered in the electricity prices for households, which amounted to euro cents by the end of 2019, the highest value recorded since 2010. As a consequence, consumption expenditure in Romanian households with water and electricity represented **** percent of the monthly overall expenses.
