In the period of consideration, Germany has been by far the leading European exporter of such products, with the peak year recorded in 2011 at over **** million metric tons. Semi-finished steel products are mainly used in industry for the further production of finished steel products. They are produced through the continuous casting of liquid steel or by rolling or forging of steel ingots.
