In 2023, Germany was by far the leading hot rolled steel producer in the European Union, with around **** million metric tons produced. This is a year-on-year decrease of nearly four percent compared to the previous year. That year, Italy was the second leading country in the EU-27, registering a production volume of approximately **** million metric tons.
