In 2023, there were nearly seven thousand Pemex fuel distribution stations in Mexico, down from approximately * stations seven years earlier. Up until 2016, Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) – Mexico's national oil corporation – had exclusive rights over fuel distribution in the country. Since then, the number of private gas stations operating in Mexico has annually increased, impacting Pemex's distribution operations.
