While always popular, discounters have become even more relevant amid Germany’s ongoing inflation and increased energy prices, with consumers reconsidering their budgets and habits. The number of people in Germany who bought food for their household in discounter stores like Lidl, Aldi, or Netto remained stable in recent years, with around **** million people doing so in 2023.
