This statistic represents the number of men eligible for androgen replacement therapy (ART) in the U.S. between 2001 and 2011. In 2009, there were 1,782,146 eligible men for ART in the United States. Commercial ART sales have been increasing steadily since 2001. ART is also referred to as testosterone replacement therapy. It is often used to minimize the effects of aging in males. ART can be especially useful for men with hypogonadism, where the body is unable to produce normal testosterone amounts. ART has also been used for women.
