In the early months of 2025, 40.1 percent of children and young people in the United Kingdom reported having read printed non-fiction books in their spare time, down from more than 48 percent in the survey held between late 2017 to early 2018. Although print remains the more popular format, the share of young people using digital alternatives to read non-fiction books is gradually growing.
