The beer market in the Netherlands

Until 2020, about 24 million hectoliters of beer were produced annually in the Netherlands. Production dropped to ** million hectoliters in 2020 and 2021. The number of breweries responsible has grown continuously: between 2012 and 2020, the number of active beer brewing companies in the country has quadrupled. Many of these breweries were located in specific parts of the country. The Dutch provinces with the highest number of active breweries were Noord-Brabant, Noord-Holland, and Zuid-Holland, respectively.
