Primary energy supply in the United States increased slightly in 2024, when compared to the previous year. Oil was the most used energy source, followed by natural gas and nuclear energy. By comparison, the least used energy source was hydroelectricity. In 2024, consumption of oil in the North American country amounted to 35.8 exajoules, while renewables consumption reached 5.8 exajoules.
