This statistic shows the share of consumers (who intended to buy a smartphone in the future) who planned specifically to buy an iPhone within the next 90 days as of certain dates from March 2008 to December 2012. Within the graph the release dates of different versions and upgrades of the iPhone have been marked. As can be seen, around the time of each release date, the share of smartphone buyers who specifically wanted to purchase an iPhone, increased. At the time of the release of the iPhone 5 in September 2012, as many as 71 percent of respondents said that they planned to buy an iPhone within the next 90 days.
