Global venture capital investment in AI firms grew from *** billion U.S. dollars in 2012 to billion U.S. dollars in 2025, outpacing the recovery of total VC investment following the post-pandemic correction. Total VC peaked at billion U.S. dollars in 2021 before declining sharply in 2022 and partially recovering by 2025. AI-related VC followed a similar but less severe trajectory. By 2025, AI accounted for approximately ** percent of total global VC investment, up from around ** percent in 2021.
