In 2024, over a quarter of children under five years of age in Australia were estimated to be overweight, making it, by some margin, the country with the highest share of overweight among young children globally. Papua New Guinea and the Turks and Caicos Islands followed, with both having over 18 percent of children under five years of age being overweight.
