The U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran at the end of February 2026 was disapproved of by most Germans, according to a survey conducted two days after the initial attacks. While 29 percent of all respondents in Germany approved of the military action, 57 percent disapproved. Opposition was particularly strong in East Germany, where 73 percent of those surveyed rejected the offensive against Iran. Significant differences also existed among supporters of different political parties: while 54 percent of respondents identifying with the center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU) viewed the attack as justified, 84 percent of supporters of the Left Party (Die Linke) opposed it.
