As part of this survey conducted in 2018, the vast majority of fathers indicated that they had fully or partially taken their paternity leave. This survey highlights the main expectations of fathers who took all or part of their paternity leave. The two main expectations cited by fathers who took all or part of their paternity leave were to enjoy time with their child and to create a bond with them, as well as to support the other parent upon the arrival of the child. The majority of fathers also wished to take their paternity leave in order to provide care for the infant and to handle some of the household tasks. A minority of fathers reported not taking their paternity leave. Among the fathers who had not taken, or had not fully taken, their paternity leave, ** percent stated that the reason was that they felt their presence was required at work due to a specific context.
