The use of preferred textile materials—including renewable and recycled ones—within the global fashion industry has experienced a general upward trend in recent years. In fact, the share of employment of this type of fiber reached ** percent for the first time in 2020 and managed to stay above ** percent in 2022, despite the rise of conventional fibers, more specifically virgin fossil-based ones. The majority of this percentage (34.8 percent) corresponded to the so-called preferred renewable fibers.
