In 2024, the Spanish textile group Inditex had approximately employees. Thus, the company's workforce experienced an increase of about employees compared to the figure recorded just one year earlier. However, the clear female dominance in the workforce remains evident. In fact, men continue to represent just over percent of the hired staff.
Inditex, a key company in the textile sector
That Amancio Ortega is still today the richest person in Spain is by no means a surprise. In 2024 alone, the group that started as a small family tailoring workshop in 1963 billed approximately billion euros. This figure not only placed Inditex at pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels but also represented the best business figure since its founding. This result, combined with a net profit exceeding billion, made it clearer than ever that the 2020 crisis was behind them, a year in which the giant of the Spanish textile industry experienced net losses for the first time in its history during the first quarter.
Zara: the flagship brand
But if there is one brand that has especially contributed to Inditex’s positioning, it is undoubtedly Zara. It is not only the group’s company that generates the most money annually by far, with sales in 2024 around billion euros, but it is also one of the ten most valuable fashion and accessories brands in the world. Specifically, according to Brand Finance, its value in 2024 was just shy of billion U.S. dollars, surpassing one of its major rivals in the “fast fashion” sector, H&M, which did not even make the list.
