The bike-sharing system of Mexico City, ECOBICI, added electric pedal-assist units to its fleet in February 2018, reaching around * trips that same month. For most of 2019, the usage intensity of electric bicycles in this system remained above * trips per month. Due to the restrictions implemented by the Government of Mexico City to combat the COVID-19 outbreak, the number of electric bicycle trips in the ECOBICI system fell to its lowest level since its implementation, dropping below trips per month in April and May 2020.
