The leading sales brand was once again the Japanese manufacturer Nissan, with more than ** units sold throughout the referenced year.

Electric vehicle sales on the rise

In the last decade, electric vehicle sales have experienced steady growth worldwide, and Mexico is no exception to this trend. In 2023, the number of fully electric vehicles sold in the country exceeded * units, representing an increase of around *** percent compared to what was reported in 2022. Among the federal entities of Mexican territory, Mexico City led the sales of fully electric vehicles, with units sold throughout the last year.

The recovery of the Mexican automotive market

Between April and June 2020, the sale of light vehicles in Mexico recorded its lowest levels due to the sharp slowdown in automobile demand related to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, by December of the same year, sales again exceeded 100,000 units and, since May 2023, this trend has remained uninterrupted. In fact, in December 2023, nearly ** light vehicles were sold nationwide, the highest figure to date.
