Due to the census published by the INE, the data for 2013 were recalculated and, from that year onward, a new series begins that is not comparable with previous data.

Annual consumption of fishery products in Spain 2013-2023
Total consumption of fishery products in Spain had been experiencing a continuous downward trend since 2013, reaching its lowest point so far in 2019. In that year, the volume consumed of fish and related products was around million kilograms, representing a decrease of nearly ** million compared to the figure recorded just one year earlier. However, the trend reversed in 2020; a year in which million kilograms more were consumed than in 2019, surpassing the threshold of million. In 2021, however, consumption decreased again, and the same happened in 2022 and 2023, when it fell below *** million for the first time.
