According to a survey conducted in Chile in March 2020, 72 percent of participants reported having increased their purchase of alcohol-based hand sanitizer as a preventive measure against the disease caused by the new type of coronavirus (COVID-19). Other products that were more frequently purchased due to this pandemic, although to a lesser extent, were cleaning products and food, with sales increases of 44 percent and 40 percent, respectively.
