This chart shows the annual number of deaths per million inhabitants attributed to exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) by OECD country in 2019. That year, Poland and Hungary had the highest proportion of deaths attributed to air pollution, with more than 700 deaths per million inhabitants attributable to air pollution in each of these two countries. In France, there were approximately 200 deaths per million inhabitants due to fine particulate matter.
