The total number of deaths for air pollution in France was just above 41,000 in 2018. This value represented a decrease compared to 2012, when deaths by fine particles PM2.5 alone amounted to over 43,000 deaths. In 2018 too, PM2.5 were the main reason for premature death by air pollution.
