Soybean and palm oil are by far the raw materials imported into the European Union (EU) that involve the greatest tropical deforestation. They are followed by beef, wood-derived products, cocoa, and coffee.
The largest imported deforestation comes from Brazil, Indonesia, Argentina, and Paraguay.
The European Union is the second largest region in the world responsible for imported tropical deforestation and associated emissions after China.
