This statistic presents the amount of CO2 emitted by the food system of different countries around the world, including agriculture, deforestation, and food waste. There are three major agricultural producers at the top of the ranking: China, in first place, with 1.865 million tons of CO2 emitted by its food system; Brazil, a major contributor to Amazon deforestation, emits 1.675 million tons of CO2; and finally, India emits 1.160 million tons of CO2 with its food system. The amount of CO2 emitted by the French food system amounts to 114 million tons per year.
