Africa has seen the greatest loss of forest area out of any region in the world. Between 1990 and 2025, about 15 percent of forest area was lost on the African continent. Americas has also recorded a prominent rise in deforestation, with the region's combined forest area shrinking by nearly 10 percent. Côte d'Ivoire was found to have the greatest negative forest area percentage change of any country.
