A survey in 2025 found that the large majority of women over the age of 40 who were undergoing perimenopause, menopause, or post-menopause were not aware of menopause-related oral health symptoms. However, a similar share would prioritize scheduling their next dental visit or stay up to date on dental checkups once they learned of the connection between menopause and oral health. In fact, 40 percent of the surveyed women already experienced an increase in dry mouth in the past months, collectively referred to as "menopause mouth".
