Cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors include systolic blood pressure ≥ 130 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure ≥ 80 mm Hg; non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ≥ 190 mg/dL; A1c ≥ 6.5%; and body mass index ≥ 30.

Prevalence of cardiovascular disease risk factors in U.S. adults from 2013 to 2023
As of 2021-2023, around 28.1 percent of adults aged 20 and older in the United States were estimated to have at least two cardiovascular disease risk factors, compared to 23.7 percent in 2013-2014. While around 38 percent of adults did not have any cardiovascular disease risk factors in 2021-2023, this was the case for over 42 percent of adults in 2013-2014.
