As of 2021-2023, 31.3 percent of adults in the United States whose family income was less than 130 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL) were estimated to have at least two cardiovascular disease risk factors, compared to 24.7 percent of those with a family income of at least 350 percent of the FPL. While around 33 percent of adults with a family income below 350 percent of the FPL did not have any cardiovascular disease risk factors, this was the case for nearly 39 percent of adults earning above that threshold.
