Approximately 54 gigawatts of coal power capacity were cumulatively retired in the United States between 2017 and 2020 under Donald Trump’s first term as President of the United States, more than during both of Barack Obama's terms and Joe Biden's term. During Donald Trump's second term, it is planned to cumulatively retire some 62 gigawatts of coal power capacity by 2028.
