In 2022, a survey conducted by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights found that 36 percent of people of African descent in selected EU countries had experienced discrimination. In three of the countries surveyed, at least half of the African descent population reported experiencing discrimination in the previous year. Among them, Germany recorded the highest share of people experiencing discrimination in the past five years, with 77 percent of respondents affected. Austria also reported one of the highest rates, with 76 percent.Â
