As of November 2024, more than half of U.S. adults aged 50 and older believed that audience preferences for younger actors and the focus on youth culture are the biggest barriers to better representation of older actors in movies and TV. Meanwhile, 42 percent of respondents stated that the industry is biased in its portrayal of elderly actors in the media.
