As of 2024, leading companies in the United States were aiming to reduce their scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by an average of ** percent. By comparison, these same companies only had targets to cut scope 3 emissions by an average of ** percent. Companies across the three most carbon-intensive sectors in the U.S. — energy, industrials, and utilities — had the ambition of cutting scope 1 emissions by an average of around ** percent.
