Microsoft's GHG emissions have increased by ** percent compared to its 2020 baseline. A key factor behind this rise has been the expansion of its global data center footprint.
Microsoft has committed to become carbon negative by 2030, and by 2050 aims to remove an amount of carbon from the atmosphere equivalent to its total historical operational emissions. In 2024, the tech giant signed the largest ever carbon removal deal with Stockholm Exergi.
