In the 2nd quarter of 2024, most of the foreign cross-border commuters working in Switzerland were from France, with around ** people commuting to Switzerland daily. Therefore, French commuters account for almost ** percent of all cross-border commuters.

Foreign cross-border commuters are employed people of foreign nationality with a specific cross-border commuter permit (G permit) who are in paid employment in Switzerland. Cross-border commuters must return to their main place of residence abroad at least once a week.
