In 2024, at 77.8 percent, most of the Swiss labor force was working in the service sector. Around 20 percent of all employees had jobs in industry, while only 2.3 percent were employed in the agricultural sector.
Over the long term, the increasing trend towards a service society is evident: while the tertiary sector is increasing its share of employment, that of industry and agriculture is decreasing.
