According to a survey conducted in Britain in August 2024, 33 percent of British adults aged between 18 and 24 years felt that social media companies should not be held responsible for posts that users made inciting criminal behavior during the recent riots in England. Brits aged over 65 years were most likely to say that social media companies should be held responsible for such posts during the far-right, anti-immigration riots that took place in July and August 2024. In the aftermath of the riots, violent disorder was the most common type of crime that offenders were charged with.
