In 2022, around ** people in their seventies were ischemic stroke patients in South Korea. They were the largest age group in the country to suffer from this type of stroke, while people in their sixties formed the largest group of hemorrhagic stroke patients. When a stroke occurs, poor blood flow to the brain causes cell death, which results in parts of the brain not functioning properly. In the case of ischemic strokes, this is due to a lack of or insufficient blood flow, while in the case of hemorrhagic strokes, it is caused by bleeding within the skull.
