In 2022, around ** people were ischemic stroke patients in South Korea. Another ** had suffered hemorrhagic strokes. The number of ischemic stroke patients has been growing faster than hemorrhagic stroke patients. When a stroke occurs, poor blood flow to the brain causes cell death, which results in parts of the brain not functioning properly. In the case of ischemic strokes, this is due to a lack of or insufficient blood flow, while in the case of hemorrhagic strokes, it is caused by bleeding within the skull.
