Regular cyclists include people who cycle at least once per week or more often. Occasional cyclists include people who cycle several times per month or less. Non-cyclists include people who never cycle.Â
Original survey question: How long have you been cycling at this frequency?
Participants were split evenly between the survey period in June and October.
Participants, who had cycled in the previous seven days were asked about their trips. The data, therefore, represents two typical weeks in June and October.
Among regular and occasional cyclists in France, more than a quarter are seasoned cyclists, who have been cycling for more than twenty years. More than another quarter, however, have only taken up cycling in the past one to four years. The COVID-19 pandemic and associated improvements of bike infrastructure had encouraged many French people to start cycling or cycle more regularly.
