The data represents responses to the question "How many of those days did you participate in each of the following types of bicycling?"
*For the 2022 edition of the survey, a total of 15,871 adults living in the United States were surveyed. Data on an additional 8,345 youth between the ages of 3 and 17 was collected by surveying respondents on young people living in their household. The survey was carried out in English.
Survey results were weighted for age, gender, region, income, and race and ethnicity to correspond to the 2021 population estimates of the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.
Totals may not add up to 100 percent due to rounding.

More than **** of underage Americans and ** percent of adult Americans who cycled in 2022 cycled exclusively for recreation. Meanwhile, only **** percent of youths and ** percent of adults cycled exclusively for transport. The remaining cyclists reported that they rode bikes for both leisure and transport purposes.
