According to a survey conducted in 2023, 38 percent of parents were very concerned about the possibility of gun violence at their children's school in the United States. Surveyed parents who identified as female were most likely to share this level of concern, at 47 percent, followed by respondents between the ages of 45 to 64 years and respondents who were Democrats. In contrast, parents under 30 years of age were least likely to say that they were very concerned about gun violence occurring at their children's school, however, almost half of this age group still expressed that they were somewhat concerned over the possibility. Compared to other demographic groups, Republican respondents and male respondents had the greatest share of parents who were not very concerned and not concerned at all about the possibility of their children facing gunfire at school.
