Greenhouse gas emissions from stationary installations covered by the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) totaled **** billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCOâ‚‚e) in 2023. Since the EU-ETS was introduced in 2005, emissions from stationary installations have roughly halved. With existing measures, emissions from these installations are projected to decrease a further ** percent by 2030. Stationary installations covered by the EU-ETS include power and heat generation plants, as well as various facilities from energy-intensive industry sectors, such as oil refineries and steel works.
