In 2023, the largest area of agrarian conflict in Indonesia came from the infrastructure sector, and about * thousand hectares of the conflicting areas were related to the development of Nusantara. The Indonesian government is currently developing the Capital City of Nusantara (Ibu Kota Nusantara/IKN), located in East Kalimantan, to replace Jakarta as its national capital. The development of Nusantara started at the end of 2022 and is aimed to be fully completed by 2045. The government estimated that Nusantara would be ready to be occupied and inaugurated in 2024.
