For example, the subsidiary in country X of a bank domiciled in country Y is included both in data for countries X and Y (for the latter as part of the consolidated entity). The sample of banks is unbalanced and reviewed annually.
The EBA Risk Dashboard does not include data from Norwegian nor Liechtensteiner banks from June 2021 to March 2022 due to the implementation of the reporting framework based on CRR2/CRD5 taking place only in Q2 2022.

Between 2014 and 2025, the return on equity (ROE) of the banking industry in Norway increased overall, despite periodic fluctuations. A notable drop in the ROE occurred in the first quarter of 2020 due to weak economic conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. After this sharp decline, the ROE stabilized in the following quarters. In the third quarter of 2025, it stood at **** percent.
