14.7 percent of all employed persons (including employees and self-employed) in the European Union were newly employed as of 2025 - that is, they had been in their current job for 12 months or less. The share of the workforce that is newly employed is considered to be a measure of labor demand, as countries with higher demand for labor from businesses will generally see higher rates of newly employed persons.

Denmark, the Netherlands, and Spain saw the highest rates of newly employed persons in the EU in 2025, at over one-fifth of all employed persons. On the other hand, Romania saw only 4.9 percent of its workforce being newly employed in the same year.
