The three European countries with the greatest share of their business communities stating that they expect their number of employees to decrease over 2025 are Austria, Slovakia and Poland. Around ** percent of businesses in Austria believed they would have to lay off workers in 2026. By contrast, a slight majority all the businesses in Portugal believe that they would increase their number of employees during the year.Â
