According to a 2025 study, fuel ethanol production is expected to climb to nearly 150 million metric tons by 2030. This would amount to an increase of more than 10 million metric tons compared with 2024 levels. Ethanol is set to continue to be the most produced biofuel type, as biodiesel production volumes remain nearly half those of ethanol.
