The world has over 100 million barrels of daily crude oil refining capacity. Once processed crude oil has a wide array of uses. Next to transportation fuels such as gasoline and diesel, oil is also a major feedstock in the petrochemical industry and the building block for plastics. Middle distillates, of which diesel is the most prominent commodity, have the largest refining capacity of any oil product.
