In Ghana, around 343 nurses graduated with a minimum of one year of training in mental health care in 2020. On the other hand, more than 8.7 thousand mental health nursing professionals graduated without specialization in psychiatry. Moreover, only five psychiatrists graduated in the said year. According to the source, up to 20 percent of psychiatrists emigrated to other countries in the five years following their training.
