According to data from the Accra and Ankaful psychiatric hospitals, most mentally ill patients spend less than a year in hospitals in Ghana. In 2020, this added up to ** percent. Moreover, close to ** percent of the patients stayed for 10 years or more in mental hospitals.
In 2021, more than **** thousand cases of mental illness were registered in facilities under the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG).
